The city of Pau launches an anti-solitude plan unique in France

The analysis of social needs of the city of Pau, widely shared as part of the Atlantic Social Lab project, has placed the fight against isolation as a priority issue. In response to these challenges that can affect all publics, the Mayor of Pau François Bayrou, presented in a participatory way, the first lines of reflection to citizens, associations, institutions and elected officials of the territory. The ambition is to bring all isolated publics in the heart of the city by personally involving them in the process.

Pauline Dubois, the deputy director of the Social Cohesion of the city invited on stage, six groups of stakeholders from the civil society to unveil, through moments of exchange, the themes imagined by the community to the general public: cook together and share the meal, go out and move together, grow and learn together, places of sharing, soft and accompanied mobility, circles of solidarity.

To go further and refine the contours of the anti-solitude plan, five participatory workshops open to all, organizations and citizens, are scheduled between October 4 and November 13. Alongside the existing offer and community-driven solutions, such as the pilot actions of the Atlantic Social Lab project, civil society is invited to formulate concrete proposals to fight loneliness in urban areas.
