MEP Delegation Visit in Derry and North West region on 1st November

A delegation of elected representatives from across Europe visited Derry and the North West region on the 1st of November as part of a GUE/NGL initiative.

The delegation, hosted by Sinn Fein MEP Martina Anderson, met with key stakeholders and the community to hear their concerns about Brexit.

They also saw and heard directly the different types of social cohesion and civic engagement programmes and initiatives that local social enterprises and community & voluntary sector groups deliver across the region that are directly supported by European funds. One of the projects highlighted by Enterprise North West’s Chief Executive, John Mc Gowan, was the Atlantic Social Lab programme and its delivery across the region. As part of the wider visit of the MEPs, they had further engagements with public sector leaders and private sector organisations to discuss the impact that Brexit would have on their operations.
