Santiago Council is accepting applications for the Participatory Budget programme

Santiago Town Council has started accepting applications for funds in the “Compostela Decides 2019” Participatory Budget programme. Between now and the 6th of July, anybody over 16 can submit investment and activity proposals targeting Santiago de Compostela as a whole, their district or their parish, for youth activities or next year’s fiesta for the patron saint.

It’s the third year this well-established programme has run, and this year for the first time the inhabitants will be allowed to decide what to do with 1.5 million euros of next year’s budget. There are two ways to submit applications: on the decide.santiagodecompostela.gal website or in person. Anyone interested can attend the sectorial meetings to be held over the next few weeks or just come to the day-long street event on the 30th of June in Praza 8 de Marzo.

As usual, the money budgeted for this programme will be split between investments and activities, 400,000 euros of which are to be for projects either in the whole city or one of its neighbourhoods, 450,000 euros for the rural parishes and 225,000 euros for urban districts. The remaining 200,000 will be divided evenly between youth activities and the 2019 fiesta for the Apostle.
