    The Atlantic Social Lab partnership has organized the event "Social Innovation: Debates on a Research Agenda", at the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra (CES), seeking to clarify the discussion about this notion, both as a scientific concept, as a practice that promotes change, and as a view that influenced the recent European policy agenda.

    CIM do Ave is implementing the Social Innovation Ecosystem Program that is underway in the territory.
    This training program aims to create a Social Innovation Ecosystem at NUT III AVE (with the eight Municipalities: Vizela; Guimarães; Vila Nova de Famalicão; Fafe; Póvoa de Lanhoso; Vieira do Minho; Cabeceiras de Basto; Mondim de Basto), promoting the construction of integrated strategies and social innovation plans to respond to the new challenges and opportunities of the local community.

    The Atlantic Social Lab partnership has concluded the report “Social innovation pilot actions in the Atlantic Area: a proposal for monitoring impacts”. This document suggests an evaluation method for social innovation initiatives. Pilot actions implemented in 2018 and 2019 by the project partners were used as an empirical material to perform this type of assessment. The study was organized by the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra with information provided by the project partners.

    In the framework of ASL project, Glasgow Caledonian University invite all interested people to attend a round table discussion event here at GCU on 12 February 2020. This event is exploring the socially innovative Scottish Social Care Act and the resulting approach to self-directed care. It is being run in collaboration with SIKE (Social Innovation Knowledge Exchange, an Erasmus+ project), the University of Stirling, and a third sector organisation, Scottish Care.

    The winners and creators of a novel project which empowered the public to choose how public funds are allocated were invited to Cork City Hall by the Lord Mayor, Councillor John Sheehan on Thursday the 5th of December.

    The ‘Cork Voices Campaign’ was a participatory grant making scheme for Cork City Public Participation Network (PPN) members where shortlisted applicants were videoed outlining why their particular project should be funded. The public had the opportunity to view these videos and vote on how the grant funds should be allocated.

    A delegation of elected representatives from across Europe visited Derry and the North West region on the 1st of November as part of a GUE/NGL initiative.

    The delegation, hosted by Sinn Fein MEP Martina Anderson, met with key stakeholders and the community to hear their concerns about Brexit.

    The Atlantic Social Lab project in Cork hosted a Seminar on Social Enterprise and Public Procurement in the City Hall on the 13th of November 2019 which was facilitated by Emma McEvoy from Maynooth University and Chris Gordon from the Irish Social Enterprise Network.

    This seminar focused on facilitating social enterprise participation in public procurement and looked at ways in which public procurers can incorporate social considerations into their public procurement procedures.
